ULTRASOUND SECTION
OVERVIEW
Ultrasound imaging or also known Sonography, is a painless, fast, and easy method of “seeing’ inside the human body with the use of high-frequency sound waves.
The sound waves are recorded and displayed as a real-time visual image.
No ionizing radiation is involved in ultrasound scanning. In most ultrasound examinations, a transducer, a lightweight device that produces sound waves is placed on the patient’s skin.
In our institution, Ultrasound section has three advance machines; the Toshiba Xario, Toshiba Aplio 500 and the Mindray Portable Ultrasound Machine.
The Toshiba Xario ultrasound machine is being used, with a high image quality, excellent performance in a sophisticated and compact system. The machine has four specific probes designed with dynamic Tissue-Harmonic-Imaging (dTHI) and color Doppler, used to provide high quality resolution image for vascular imaging.
The Toshiba Aplio 500 ultrasound machine acquired in year 2016, is a high-end ultrasound machine, which offers higher specification and good imaging quality.
Toshiba Aplio 500 has a lot to offer. Ascribed to its updated specification, we can now render services of Elastography, Shearwave, and Smart fusion for biopsy. This highly modernized machine has five probes designed with its advance Superb Micro-Vascular Imaging (SMI) which expands the range of visible blood flow and provides visualization of low velocity microvascular flow that has never before seen with ultrasound.
While the Mindray portable ultrasound machine, is used to facilitate patient who are intubated, unconscious, non-ambulatory and also for bedside services for ICU patients.
